Question 845468: Melina's typing speed is 36wpm. She finishes a job in 5 hours. How long would the same job have taken her if she typed 48wpm?
I tried it like this:
36wpm = 5hrs
12wpm(/3) = 15hrs(*3)
48wpm(*4) = 3.75hrs(/4)
Is there a more reliable solution, one with algebra pehaps?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Rate*Time=Output
I think you've got the gist of it.
36%2A5 is the constant for output.
So any product of rate and time must equal 36%2A5
48%2AT=36%2A5
T=%2836%2A5%29%2F48
T=%283%2A5%29%2F4
T=15%2F4
