Question 844306: I am a parent helping son with homework. Can you plot on a graph the equation:
y = x + 4
Answer by josmiceli(19441) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The x-axis is horizontal
The y-axis is vertical
Where they meet is the origin
---------------------------
The origin is at (x,y) = (0,0)
--------------------------
To plot points, just keep picking x's
and find the y's to make an (x,y)
-----------------------------
For instance, pick

You now have the point (3,7)
To plot it, go right 3 units from the origin,
then up 7 units. That is (3,7)
---------------------------
Pick

You now have the point (-4,0 )
To plot it, go left 4 units from the origin,
then move zero units along the y-axis.
In other words, just stay on the x-axis
That is (-4,0)
------------------
Just keep going by picking random x's and
finding the y's. the points should fall
in a straight line
--------------------
Here's the plot you should get:
