There are several ways to solve this. If you use the quadratic equation the use a = 1, b = 8 and c = 0. You can also factor this. Notice that y%5E2+=y%2Ay. Let's rewrite the equation as follows:
y%5E2+%2B+8y+=+y%2Ay+%2B+8y+=+0.
We can factor one y from the expression:
y%28y+%2B+8%29+=+0
This equation is true under two conditions. First, y = 0 and second, y = -8.
