x + 2x - 30 = 90 {the two parts add together to equal 90}
3x - 30 = 90 {combined like terms}
3x = 120 {added 30 to each side}
x = 40 {divided each side by 3}
2x - 30 = 50 {substituted 40, in for x, into 2x - 30}
40 and 50 are the two parts
