Let t = amt of candy had by Taylor
then, since Nina had five times as much;
5t = amt had by Nina
:
N gives 12 to T
5t - 12 = t + 12
5t - t = 12 + 12
4t = 24
t = 24/4
t = 6 candies had by Taylor
and
5(6) = 30 candies had by Nina
then obviously, 36 candies in all
