You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use a calculator and find the atan or invtan or tan^(-1) button.
This finds the inverse of the tangent function or in other words which angle has this value as its tangent.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
tan (x) = 5
x = tan^-1(5) = 78.69006753
the nearest tenth are the numbers 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80, and 90
in our case we can neglect the numbers after the decimal and focus on the first two.
78 is closer to 80 than it is 70 so the answer is 80 degrees.
food for thought, what do you think the nearest tenth would have been if x was 75.2, 74.8 or 75?
