You can put this solution on YOUR website! 3 years ago his age will be = y-3
4 years after his age will be = y +4
1/2(y-3) = 1/3(y+4)
3(y-3) = 2(y +4)
3y-9 = 2y +8
y = 8+9
y = 17
Tom's age = 17
