Hi,
a traveler traveled 70 miles, finishing 35% of his trip in the first 3 hours.
Traveled at r = 70m/3hr , still had miles left Cross Multiplying to solve
x = .65•70mi/.35 = 130mi left
how many more hours did he need to go if he continued at the same rate of speed
t = D/r = = 39/7 = 5.57 hr
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 70 miles in 3 hours, so speed is 70/3 miles/hour
Since 35% of his trip takes 3 hours where x is the number of hours for the whole trip
so 35x = 3*100
35x = 300
x = 300/35 hours
rate * time = distance
(70/3)*(300/35) = 200 total distance to travel
Since the traveler has traveled 70 miles so far,
there are (200-70) = 130 miles to go where x is the time to complete the trip
70x = 3*130
70x = 390
x = 390/70 = 5.5714 hours to go
