Question 842234: Hello, I have two math problems that I need assistance with.
It is using the elimination method.
1st question
0=-6y-22+5x
-14x=-22y-72
2nd question
9x=-12=-33y
10y+5x=-15
I think if I can see these solved with the steps, it will help me with the rest of my homework and understanding.
Thank you so much,
Lisa :)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1st question
0=-6y-22+5x
-14x=-22y-72

Put into standard form.
5x-6y=22
-14x+22y=-72

Simplify any of them if possible using multiplicative inverses.
5x-6y=22
7x-11y=36

Choose which variable you want to eliminate, and perform appropriate multiplicative inverse transformations into equivalent equations. The x would be maybe easiest to eliminate.
7(5x-6y)=7*22
5(7x-11)=5*36
-
35x-42y=154
35x-55y=180
-
Subtract one equation from the other equation.
(35x-42y)-(35x-55y)=154-180
55y-42y=-26
13y=-26
y=-2---------part of the answer.
-
Do similarly to eliminate y to find x.
You might also choose to find x through the use of either equation and using the found value of y.
