Question 841481: a)A triangle has a base of (4-x) cm and height of (2x+3) cm , what is the maximum area of the triangle?
b) what value of x would produce the maximum area?
Thanks so much in advance:) Answer by richard1234(7193) (Show Source):
The vertex of the parabola occurs at which is less than 4 (note that ) so x = 5/4 gives the maximum area. To find this area, substitute x = 5/4 (and divide by 2!).
