2x+5y=18

3x+5y=17  |Subtracting 2nd from 1st EQ to eliminate y

 -x = 1

  x = -1  and y = 4   (-2 + 5y = 18,  5y = 20, y = 4)

Using: 3x+5y=17 

  -3 + 20 = 17
