Let A be the smaller number, B the larger number.
1.B=A%2B5 The larger number is 5 more than the smaller number
2.2%2AB=3A-12 "twice the larger is 12 less than 3 times the smaller"
Substitute eq. 1 into eq. 2,
2%28A%2B5%29=3A-12
2A%2B10=3A-12
A=22
Then use either equation to solve for B,
B=22%2B5
B=27
