You can put this solution on YOUR website!
boat speed = x
current speed = y

with current: x + y = 320/8 = 40
against current: x - y = 320/16 = 20

Add: 2x = 60 ---> x = 30

The boat travels at 30 mph and the current travels at 10 mph.
