A machine in a factory capped 14 bottles in 84 seconds. How many would this same machine cap in 2 minutes working at the same rate?
---------------
Use a proportion::
caps/time = caps/time
------------
x/120 sec = 14/84 seconds
------
x = (120)(14/84)
------
x = 20 caps

So if a machine caps 14 bottles in 84 seconds, so it caps 1 bottle every 6 seconds. for if you take 84 divide by 14 you get 6. So if every 6 seconds one bottle is capped, and you're trying to figure out how many are capped in 2 minutes. well, then that's quiet easy, for 120 seconds are in 2 minutes so you simply take 120 divided by 6 and you get 20. 20 bottles capped in 2 minutes
