You have an isosceles triangle with each base angle = 30 degrees.
The vertical angle is 180-2*30 = 120 degrees

Draw an altitude from the vertex to the base
That altitude is opposite a 30 degree angle.
sin(30) = altitude/hypotenuse

1/2 = altitude/2

altitude = 1 cm
