Question 834867: Here is the question: If the distance is 10 miles and it takes 1000 seconds to travel the distance, what is the rate of speed in miles per hour? I know what the answer is but my instructor wants us to show all the work and if I see how this one is done, hopefully I will remember how to do the rest, it has ben twenty years since I have taken this subject and I have no book or instruction.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You have a starting rate in miles per second. This is:
10%2F1000=0.01 miles per second. Showing a rational number with the units,

1%28mile%29%2F%28100%2Aseconds%29

You need to use two conversion ratios.
1 minute = 60 seconds
1 hour = 60 minutes
You use them in the form of ratios.

Note how the conversion factors are arranged to leave units of miles per hour!
