You can put this solution on YOUR website! it takes two people working together 12 minutes to file a report. one works six times faster than the other. how long will it take each person to file the report separately?
------
Together rate:: 1/12 job/min
One worker rate: 1/x job/min
Other worker rate: 1/6x job/min
-------------
Equation:
rate + rate = together rate
------
1/x + 1/(6x) = 1/12
------------------------
Multiply thru by 12x to get::
12 + 2 = x
-------
x = 14 minutes (time for one worker to do the job alone)
6x = 84 minutes (time for the other)
----------------------------------------
