Bransford has an aquarium with a base that is 22 inches times 12 inchesand a height of 15. What is the volume of the aquarium? Would the volume of the aquarium changed it did not have a lid? Explain.

The volume in cubic inches is
22%2A12%2A15=highlight%283960%29 .
Aquarium volumes are measured in gallons in the US.
I do not know how many cubic inches makes a gallon.
(I was born and educated in a metric country, and as a scientist, I just use the SI system of measures).
It does not matter whether the aquarium has a lid or not.
The volume that fits inside is the same.
If they asked me about the surface area of a box with those measurements,
I would ask if the surface area of the lid needed to be included in the calculations.
However, in every aquarium I've had the bottom and sides were made of glass while the lid was plastic and includes a light. No one would care to calculate total surface area including the lid.
