You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x-3y=-1
2x-7y=-1
.
Add 3y to each side of the first equation
x = 3y-1
Now take that value and substitute it for the x value in the second equation
2(3y-1) - 7y =-1
Distribute
6y-2-7y = -1
Add 2 to each side
6y-7y = 1
Subtract
-y = 1
Multiply by -1 on each side
y = -1
.
If y is -1, then x is (3*-1)-1, -3-4 = -4
