Question 832910: Can someone please help me with this equation? It says,
write the equation in point slope form for the line with the given slope that contains the given point.
slope=5;(1,7) is on the line.
I'm just confused, but I thought i could put (1,7)=5 But i'm just not sure, thanks in advanced ! :)

You can put this solution on YOUR website! write the equation in point slope form for the line with the given slope that contains the given point.
slope=5;(1,7) is on the line.

Form: y = mx + b
----
Substitute for x,y,m and solve for "b":
7 = 5*1 + b
b = 2
------
Equation:
y = 5x + 2

Point-slope form of a line:  , where:
m, or slope = 5
Thus, becomes: 
Solve this for y, and you'll have the equation you seek.
