Convert 1/2 to 4ths
2/4x + 10 = -1/4x + 54
Add 1/4x to each side
3/4x + 10 = 54
Subtract 10 from each side
3/4x = 44
Multiply each side by 4 to get rid of the fraction
3x = 176
Divide each side by 3
x = 58 2/3
