Question 832862: Sung is going to rent a truck for one day. There are two companies he can choose from, and they have the following prices.
Company A charges $89 and allows unlimited mileage.
Company B has an initial fee of $75 and charges an additional $0.70 for every mile driven.
For what mileages will Company A charge less than Company B?
Use M for the number of miles driven, and solve your inequality for M .

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What you're looking for is the point at which Company B charges $89 (the same as Company A).
B = 75 + .7x
Set it against the Company A value
89 = 74 + .7x
Subtract 74 from each side
15 = .7x
Multiply each side by .7
10.5 = x (or in this case, M)
A charges less than B when M >10.5
