A + B + C = 17
B = A + 1
C = A + 2
Substitute
A + (A+1) + (A+2) = 17
Add the As
3A + 1 + 2 = 17
3A + 3 = 17
Subtract 3 from each side
3A = 14
A = 14/3
not a whole number. No solution.

You can check that because 4+5+6 = 15, and 5+6+7= 18. The value lies between them.
