Question 832107: I need help setting up a problem.
Jill added gas to her gas tank when it was half full. 2 days later she added more gas when it was 3/4 full. She added 181/2 gallons all together. How large is her gas tank? I tried this: 1/4X + 1/2X =181/2 solve for x then plug into the equation. 1/4X + 1/2X=37/2 ; 3/4x=37/2; X=242/3 divide this by 2 and 4. Then add the results plus 1/4 more so 61/2+61/2+121/3 =245/3 Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source):
