You can put this solution on YOUR website!
___________speed_____________time_____________distance
Fast_______r+120______________t________________285
Slow________r_________________t________________255

R*T=D Rate Time Distance.

Fast plane has equation for t, t=285%2F%28r%2B120%29
Slow plane has equation for t, t=255%2Fr
t is the same for BOTH equations, and therefore we equate the two expressions for t.

285%2F%28r%2B120%29=255%2Fr
%28r%2B120%29%2F285=r%2F255
255%28r%2B120%29=r%2A285
255r%2B30600=285r
30r=30600
highlight%28r=1020%29 mph
