Question 83209: My son has a homework problem which shows a picture of a 10x12 rectangle.
Question 1 asks what the area is? I believe its 120 square units.
Question 2 (im lost) Its says "can you name two other rectangles with the same area? Explain how you can prove that these two rectangles have the same area as the 10x12 rectangle? "
Thanks for the help

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Area=base*height
Area=10*12=120
So the area is 120 square units
To find other rectangles with 120 sq units, simply set up the equation
A=b*h
and plug in A=120
120=b*h
So what 2 numbers multiply to 120? Lets list the factors
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 24, 30, 40, 60, 120.
So we can have a rectangle of
1x120, 2x60, 3x40, 4x30, 5x24, 6x20, 8x15, 10x12, 12x10, 15x8, 20x6, 24x5, 30x4, 40x3, 60x2, or 120x1
and they will all have the same area of 120 square units
