Question 831642: A garden space is made up of two overlapping rectangles. One rectangle measures 8' x 5'. The other rectangle measures 5' X 8'. The area where the rectangles overlap measures 15 square feet. What is the total surface area of the garden. Found SA = 2(wh+lw+lh) since we don't have height, just going with lw. SA-15 = 2(13*13) = 154 Not sure if you add the two rectangles lengths together to get 13 for each the length and height. 3rd grade math and I am 30 and can't answer it convincingly! Sigh...
