THE MECHANIC WORKS FOR 1 HOUR THEREFORE HE COMPLETES 1/2 OF THE JOB.
SEEING IT TAKES THE APPRENTICE 6 HOURS TO DO THE WHOLE JOB HE THEN ONLY NEEDS 1/2 OF 6 HOURS=3 HOURS BECAUSE 1/2 OF THE JOB IS ALREADY DON BY THE MECHANIC.
ANSWER: 3 HOURS FOR THE APPRENTICE TO COMPLETE THE JOB.
