You can put this solution on YOUR website!
From the problem, we're told that Jake wallpapers 1/5 room per hour, and that Maura wallpapers 1/6 of a room per hour.
.
Together, they wallpaper 1/5 + 1/6 per hour.
Let's give them a common denominator by making it 30ths (6*5)
Jack wallpapers 6/30 in one hour; Maura wallpapers 5/30 in one hour. Together they can wallpaper 11/30 in one hour.
But we're looking for 1.5 hours. Simply multiply the numerator (top number) by 1.5.
In 1.5 hours, they can wallpaper 16.5/30 of a room, or .55

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1.5/5+1.5/6=0.55
another way
1/5+1/6=1/x
x=30/11
(3/2)/(30/11)=3/2*11/30=33/60=11/20=.55
