Question 830506: Solve for the remaining 5 trig functions; secθ=4/3, sinθ<0
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Solve for the remaining 5 trig functions; secθ=4/3, sinθ<0
Under those conditions, theta is in QIV where x is positive and y is negative.
-----------
Since sec = r/x, r = 4 and x = 3
Then y = -sqrt[4^2 - 3^2] = -sqrt(7)
-----
sin = y/4 = =sqrt(7)/4
cos = x/r = 3/4
tan = y/x = -sqrt(7)/3
-----
csc = r/y = -4/sqrt(7)
sec = r/x = 4/3
cot = x/y = -3/sqrt(7)
