1- Let x be the number.
2- Eight less than that number can be expressed as x-8.
3- Eight less than six times a number is 104 can be expressed as 6x-8=104.
4- Solve the equation for x to find the number.
6x-8 = 104
6x-8+8 = 104+8
6x = 112
x = 56/3
