Answer by Edwin McCravy(20056) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! How many numbers of 5 digits can be formed with the digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 & 8 with no digit being repeated in the same number?
Choose the most restrictive digit first.
A five digit number cannot begin with 0.
So the first digit is the most restrictive.
Choose the first digit any of 6 ways {1,2,3,4,6,8}
That leaves 6 ways to choose the second digit, (since it can be 0.)
That leaves 5 ways to choose the third digit.
That leaves 4 ways to choose the fourth digit.
That leaves 3 ways to choose the fifth digit.
Answer: 6 = 2160
