The system is partly setup for you. Second equation is a formula for x. Substitute it into the first equation and find the value for y.

x=5-(y/3)
What is the intersection?




    5+-+%28y%2F3%29+%2B+4y+=+-+6 ------ Substituting 5+-+%28y%2F3%29 for x in eq (i)

15 - y + 12y = - 18 ----- Multiplying by LCD, 3

   - y + 12y = - 18 - 15

         11y = - 33

          y+=+-+33%2F11, or highlight_green%28-+3%29

  x + 4(- 3) = - 6 ------- Substituting - 3 for y on eq (i)

         x - 12 = - 6
