How old is Karl now?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
K= Karl's age now.
L= Laura's age now (just in case I need that variable).
Apparently, at some time in the past Laura's age was 2K .
Apparently, Karl has not turned 17 yet, but when Karl turns 17,
he will be 5 years older than 2K .
So 2K%2B5=17 is our equation.

Solving:
2K%2B5=17
2K=17-5
2K=12
K=12%2F2
highlight%28K=6%29

We do not know how old Laura is.
We know she was 12 at some time in the past.
She maybe 13, or 100, or any other age, but Laura's age does not matter to the problem.
