Question 827220: Dear Sir / Madam;
Good day! Kindly help me in solving this problem:
Find the missing coordinate in the following terminal points given that the initial side and terminal side of an angle in the standard position which intersects the unit circle at P(1,0) and Q(x,y) respectively.
a) (x, 1/3)
b) (2√2/5 , y)
Thanks a lot for your help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Find the missing coordinate in the following terminal points given that the initial side and terminal side of an angle in the standard position which intersects the unit circle at P(1,0) and Q(x,y) respectively.
----
Draw the picture so you can see how you have a right
triangle with height = (1/3), base = x, and hypotenuse = 1.
a) (x, 1/3)
x = sqrt[1-(1/3)^2 ] = sqrt(8/9) = (2/3)sqrt(2)
===============================================
Draw the triangle:: base = (2/5)sqrt(2), height = y, hypotenuse = 1.
b) (2√2/5 , y)
y = sqrt [1 - [(2/5)sqrt(2)]^2] = sqrt(0.68) = 0.8246

Cheers,
Stan H.
