Question 82704: write in scientific notation
(6x10^12)(3.2x10^8)

(1.6x10^7)(3x10^2) Found 2 solutions by checkley75, terbear1963:Answer by checkley75(3666) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (6*10^12)(3.2*10^8)/(1.5*10^7)(3*10^2)
(19.2*10^20)/(4.5*10^9) [DIVIDE 19.2 BY 4.5 & SUBTRACT 9 FROM 20 FOR THE EXPONENT FOR THE POWER OF 10:
19.2/4.5=4.26666 & 20-9=11 SO WE NOW HAVE
4.26666*10^11
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You have to remember the basic rules for powers of ten, when you multiply and/or divide by this base(10). When you multiply, you add the exponents and keep your base ten. And, when you divide, you subtract the exponents and keep your base ten. In your problem your final result should look like this : (6 X 3.2 )( 10^11) / (1.6 X 3) Just multiply and divide the regular whole numbers, and keep your 10^11. I hope this helps you out some?
