Question 826520: Sir/Madam:
Good day! please help me with this word problem about angles and measurements.

On the unit circle x^2+y^2 = 1, find the length of the minor arc by the point P (1,0) and the point (1/2 ,√3/2)
Thank you so much for your help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
On a unit circle, the coordinates of the points are the cos and sin of the angle in standard position whose terminal side passes through that point. So the 1/2 is the cos and the sqrt%283%29%2F2 is the sin.

If you know your special angles, you should recognize that the angle with a cos of 1/2 and a sin of sqrt%283%29%2F2%29 is: pi%2F3 radians (or 60 degrees). And since radian measure of angles is the length of the arc around the unit circle, pi%2F3 is the answer to your problem.
