Question 826405: Please explain to me how I would solve the following problem: "The measure of an angle is 30 degrees more than four times the measure of its complement. What are the measure sof the angles?" Answer by LinnW(1048) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Set x = the angle
Since x + ( complement of x ) = 90
(complement of x) = 90 - x
Translating the original quote,
x = 4(90-x) + 30
x = 360 -4x + 30
x = 390 -4x
add 4x to each side
5x = 390
divide each side by 5
x = 78
(complement of x) = 90 - x = 90 - 78 = 12
The original angle is 78 and the complement is 12
