You can put this solution on YOUR website! The perimeter of a triangle is 138 units. If the longest side is 10 more than the shortest side, while the 3rd side is 2 less than the longest side, find the measures of the 3 sides.
-------
Let shortest side be "x" units.
Then longest side is "x+10" units.
And 3rd side is "x+10-2" = "x+8" units
-------------------
Equation:
x + (x+10) + (x+8) = 138 units
------
3x + 18 = 138
3x = 120
x = 40 units (shortest)
x+10 = 50 units (longest)
x+8 = 48 units (3rd side)
