Question 82559: I was able to solve the problem correctly (I think) but I am at a loss for the rest. I have absoluely no idea how to graph, get a graph or paste on on my work ( I have to do this online) Please help me. My assignment is due by midnight and I am freaking. I have not done so well so far and can not omit any of these questions. I am beginning to develop a serious math phobia (worse than ever)Thanks

1) For the equation , perform the following:
a) Solve for all values of x that satisfies the equation.
Answer: x=0
x=-1
Show work in this space
x-√=0
(x)² = (√x)²
x² - x = 0
x(x- 1) =0
x = 0 x =1
b) Graph the functions and on the same graph (by plotting points if necessary). Show the points of intersection of these two graphs.
Graph
c) How does the graph relate to part a?
Answer:
The graph relates to part a in that

#2) 4) For the function, y= 1
______
x-1
a) Give the y values for x = -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
Answer:
X
Y
Show work in this space.

b) Using these points, draw a curve.
Show graph here.

3)
x -2 -1 0 1 2
y .25 .5 1 2 4
Given the table above, graph the function, identify the graph of the function (line, parabola, hyperbola, or exponential), explain your choice, and give the domain and range as shown in the graph, and also the domain and range of the entire function.
Graph
Graph Type Exponential ( I know this much, we've learned about mostly exponential graphs)
Explanation This graph is an exponential graph because
Domain The domain of this graph is
Range The range of this graph is

4) Can you show me how to create an equation that is easier to solve as a rational exponent than a radical sign? (i responeded to the first bit about why it is easier but I need to prove what I am saying.)
Again, the graph and the work. At a loss. This is not from a textbook so I have no isbn numbe nor title to give you. Sorry.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Comment: I found several sites where you can graph functions online.
Maybe you can do that and "Send" the results to your professor.
Use Google with the search phrase "math graphing online" to find these sites.
Hope that helps.

b) Graph the functions y=x and y=sqrt(x) on the same graph (by plotting points if necessary). Show the points of intersection of these two graphs.

They should intersect at (0,0) and (1,1)

c) How does the graph relate to part a?
Answer:
The graph relates to part a in that
I don't know. Part a the graph is a parabola.
What kind of "relates" is the professor looking for?

#2) 4) For the function, y= [ 1/(x-1)]
a) Give the y values for x = -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
Answer:
X: -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
Y:
Show work in this space.
If x=-1, y=[1/(-1-1)]=1/-2 = -1/2
If x= 0, y=[1/(0-1)]= 1/-1 = -1
If x=2, y=1/(2-1)= 1/1 =1
If x=3, y=1/2
If x=4, y=1/3

b) Using these points, draw a curve.
Show graph here.

Range The range of this graph is
All real Numbers greater than zero.

4) Can you show me how to create an equation that is easier to solve as a rational exponent than a radical sign? (i responeded to the first bit about why it is easier but I need to prove what I am saying.)
Comment: What was your answer?
How about x^(3/2) = 64
Solved: x= 64^(2/3) = 4^2 = 16

Let me know if you were able to do anything with this info.
Cheers,
