You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve the two equations resulting from x+3>=0 and x+3<0.

x+3>=0 gives you |x+3|-9=x+3-9=2x,
-x+-6=0
x=-6

x+3<0 gives you |x+3|-9=-x-3-9=2x,
-x-12=2x
3x=-12
x=-4

ANSWER: x=-6 or x=-4

---------------------------------
That answer is not yet finished, since as stanbon has shown, when you recheck x=-6, the statement is false.
|x+3|-9=2x
|-6+3|-9=2(-6)
|-3|-9=-12
3-9=-12
-6=-12

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
|x+3|-9=2x
-----
x+3 = 2x+9 OR -x-3 = 2x+9
------
x = -6 OR 3x = -12
------
x = -6 OR x = -4
=======================
Checking:
Does x = -6 ?
|-6+3|-9 = 2*-6
3-9 = -12
-6 = -12
False::
x = -6 is not a solution
===============
Does x = -4 ?
|-4+3|-9 = 2*-4
1-9 = 2*-4
-8 = -8
True
