3 tablespoons of concentrate make 345 ounces of cleaning fluid. How many ounces of cleaning fluid will 2 tablespoons of cleaner make?
-------------
Use a proportion:
x/2 = 345/3
x=(2/3)345
x=2*115
x=230 ounces of cleaning fluid

HERE WE NEED TO SET UP A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE KNOWN FACTS AND THE UNKNOWN FACTS.
THUS 3/345=2/X (X BEING THE UNKNOWN QUANTITY)
NOW WE CROSS MULTIPLY & GET:
3X=345*2
3X=690
X=390/3
X=130 WHICH IS THE AMOUNT OF CLEANER 2 OUNCES WILL MAKE.
ANOTHER METHOD IS TO USE THE RELATIONSHIP:
2/3=X/345
3X=345*2
3X=690
X=390/3
X=130
