WHAT YOU NEED IS THE PYTHAGOREAN THEOREM: A^2+B^2=C^2 WHERE THE C IS THE HYPOTENUSE. THUS:
20^2+48^2=C^2
400+2304=C^2
2704=C^2
C=SQRT2704
C=52 FOR THE LENGTH OF THE HYPOTENUSE.
