The amplitude is the number times cosine, sine, or tangant. The amplitude is 5. The amplitude will never be negative, because it is simply stated how many units the graph extends from the center line.

To find the period, you take the number attached to x which in this case is 1/4 x%2F4=%281%2F4%29%2Ax. Then you take 2+pi and divide it by this number.
