The smaller number cannot be any times larger than the the larger number. The smaller number cannot be five times the larger number. Do you mean, 2n+5(2n+2)=34? Otherwise, your wording is bad.

2n+10n+10=34
12n+10=34
12n=24
n=2
Maybe your numbers are 4 and 6?
