Question 82307: How do you know if a triangle is a 3-4-5 triangle, such as a triangle with side lengths 3, 4, and 5? Answer by 303795(602) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Is it possible to divide each of the side lengths of the triangle by some number so that the ratio 3:4:5 results?
eg A triangle has side lengths of 36 cm, 48 cm and 60 cm. Is this a 3-4-5 triangle?
The sides are in the ratio 36:48:60.
If each of the numbers in the ratio is divided by 12 then you would get the new ratio 3:4:5 ie it is a 3-4-5 triangle.
You example of a triangle with side lengths of 3, 4 and 5 is obviously a 3-4-5 triangle as the side lengths ratio is already 3:4:5
