You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +W+ = the total weight of the sample in ounces
Let +c+ = the weight of copper in the sample in ounces
given:
+c%2FW+=+1%2F4+
+c+=+%281%2F4%29%2AW+
+W+=+4c+
+W+=+4%2A%28+16%2F3+%29+
+W+=+64%2F3+
+W+=+21.333+
The total weight of the sample is 21 and 1/3 ounces

The amount of copper in zinc is one fourth of the total weight. if a sample contains 5 and one third ounces of copper, what is the total weight of the sample?
----
Let the total weight be "x".
------
Equation:
(1/4)x = 5 1/3 ounces
-----
(1/4)x = 16/3 ounces
x = (4/3)16
x = 64/3 = 21 1/3 ounces
