Question 821843: How do I solve these equations with the substitution method?? I tried to solve it but I'm not sure where I went wrong.
2x-y=2
x-2y=18.5
x+2y=18.5
-2y. -2y
X= 18.5-2y

2(18.5-2y) -y=2
37-4y-y=2
37-5y=2
-37. -37
-5y=-35
-5y/-5. -35/-5
Y=7

X=18.5-2(7)
X=18.5-14
X=14.5

(14.5,7)

I ride rechecking my work but the answers weren't right

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Hi,
2x-y = 2
x-2y=18.5 | x = 18.5 + 2y
2(18.5+2y) - y = 2 |You had x = 18.8 - 2y
3y = -35
y = -35/3 and x = -29/6 (18.5 -70/3 = 111/6 - 140/6 = -29/6 )
CHECKING our answer***
Using 2x - y = 2
2%28-29%2F6%29+-+%28-35%2F3%29+=+6%2F3+=+2
