You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You want to find the rate for each.
r= rate for the CAR.

Vehicle__________speed____________time_______________distance
TRUCK____________r-30_____________t__________________315
CAR______________r________________t__________________518

Using rate*time=distance, get the time expressions for each:

Vehicle__________speed____________time_______________distance
TRUCK____________r-30_____________315%2F%28r-30%29__________________315
CAR______________r________________518%2Fr__________________518

Remember from description, those times are equal.
highlight_green%28315%2F%28r-30%29=518%2Fr%29
518%28r-30%29=315r
518r-518%2A30=315r
518r-315r=518%2A30
203r=15540
r=15540%2F203
highlight%28r=76.55%29 or close enough to 77 miles per hour for the car.
The truck goes at 47 mph.

Average rate of speed of truck: highlight_green%2845%29 mph
Average rate of speed of car: 45 + 30, or highlight_green%2875%29 mph
You can do the check!!
