You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Jamil always throws loose change into a pencil holder on his desk and takes it out every two weeks. This time it is all nickels and dimes. There are 9 times as many dimes as nickels, and the value of the dimes is $5.10 more than the value of the nickels. How many nickels and dimes does Jamil have?
----------------
Let # of nickels ; Value of these is 5x cents
------------
# of dimes is "9x" ; Value of these is 10(9x) = 90x cents
----------------
EQUATION:
dimes value - nickel value = 510 cents
90x - 5x = 510
85x = 510
x= 6 ( number of nickels)
9x = 54 (number of dimes)
